The Coordinator of English Curriculum works with the PYP and MYP Coordinators and the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment to ensure English language objectives are integrated throughout the PYP Units of Inquiry and the MYP program. Position objectives include studying, evaluating, and implementing research based curriculum decisions; supporting teachers in planning as it relates to content subjects taught in English; ensuring that there is a careful scaffolding of the English language both horizontally and vertically; and assisting in the coordination of relevant staff development.

Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment will oversee, manage and lead the development, selection, implementation, evaluation and refinement of Daystar Academy’s PreK-7 (up to 12th grade as the school grows) academic programming, curricula, and assessment system with an eye toward the 12th grade expected outcomes. She/he will ensure that organizational systems and academic programs are established to ensure all students are college and career ready. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment reports to the Chief Academic Officer and works collaboratively with other departments in supporting school and student success.

1. Implement the MYP Sciences curricula using instructional and assessment practices consistent with the philosophy of the IBO; 2. Work with his/her Grade Level Team, planning closely, attending collaborative planning sessions and co-teaching where appropriate; 3. Must use an MYP inquiry-based approach and must offer provide differentiated instructional approaches based on students needs and best practices;
